Assignment for the weekend 10/28-10/30
Pacing yourself is the best way to get this assignment done. You will be working on developing your Ning profile and getting into your character:
Status Updates-best done on Friday
You must have 3 status updates that pertain to Act I of Romeo and Juliet. Your character does not have a significant part yet? That is okay, get creative: What if your character witnessed the fight between the Capulets and the Montagues in the middle of town? What if your character crashed the Capulet party as well? What would they see? Did you see anyone lurking around the Capulet orchard after the party? Would your character be friends with the Capulets or the Montagues, or be neutral, wishing only for the fighting to stop? Get in character and be creative!
Commenting- best done on Saturday/Sunday
You need to comment on three different profile status updates. That is three different people, a comment on one status update each. By all means comment more if you are having fun. The object is for everyone's profile to have comments. Be mindful of your comments, Tybalt would not be friendly with Mercutio, or Benvolio, staying in character is part of your grade.
Profile Development
Add a picture to your profile and a blurb in the form of a "blog post" about "What I know about my character so far.." This will be used later to construct the 3 mini-essays that are part of this project.
Consider-
Are you a round or flat character?
Are you a dramatic foil? (the opposite of, that enhances the qualities of another- like Rosaline to Juliet)
Are you comic relief? And how?
Are you a guide/mentor/ neutral
What predictions do you have for your character?
Adhere to proper English, no abbreviations or txt talk!! Keep it appropriate for class, this is an extension of the classroom and you will be graded on all content you post. You can Ning message me with problems or questions, I will check the Networks tonight, and periodically over the weekend. Have fun, this project is about getting into the characters in a way not usually available to students.
And feel free to comment on my profile as well, I am playing along with you.
The rubric is posted below if you did not grab one in class.
